TAKING ACTION TO PROTECT METCHOSIN
Our local elected officials and staff have tremendous powers over land use matters in Metchosin. For example:
-
Permits for dumping and tree cutting are either issued by the District or come before Council.
-
Temporary Use Permits can be applied for, which, if approved, can lead to significant change in local landscapes. The conditions that may come with TUP need to be monitored by the District.
-
Bylaw enforcement approaches are ultimately up to the direction set by Mayor and Council.
-
Future subdivision applications will be reviewed and ultimately approved by staff. Mayor and Council set the direction and policy staff work under.
Residents have the ability to communicate with
Mayor and Council and influence their decisions.
